Hi Guys. I'm thinking about changing from Telecom to Orcon Genius in Rolleston to save approx $55 a month. Can anybody give me feedback that is using this service here in Rolleston. I'm a little hesitant to jump because of the lack of ports available here in Rolleston and I can't be with out internet if it goes pear shaped.
Thanks.

While I can't comment on performance (other than saying I wouldn't expect any issues) I'd be surprised if there were still port issues in Rolleston. Has somebody told you this recently?

There were issues up until a year ago, but Rolleston received a huge number of cabinets as part of the cabinetisation program.

If you're in an area that's cabinetised there shouldn't be any such issues. Without knowing your address we can't tell you that, but the Chorus SAT tool can.

Anybody who's on a waitlist is probably not on an ISAM, and that typically means an old ATM based DSLAM so you wouldn't get Genius on that anyway since it doesn't support EUBA.

One further question before I sign up. Their rates to call an Australian mobile are 56 cents per minute. Would there be a cheaper options to do this. Can you use 2talk or something similar with Orcon Genius.
Thanks.

Yes you could use 2talk with Orcon Genius but you would have to buy a separate Analogue Telephone Adapter and plug it into your Genius modem.
