On Tuesday night I ported my 021 number over from Vodafone to my 2 Degrees account and since the port was completed (mid-day Wednesday) there are excessive post dial delays occurring on incoming calls from landlines.

The post dial delay is the time from when the caller dials the number until the time that the caller hears the first ring. (At least that is the definition I'm using)

I've done tests using 2 completely separate POTS landlines: TelstraClear and Telecom with Direct Dial tolls through World-Net. As well as 3 mobiles: Vodafone 021, 2 Degrees 022, and 2 Degrees 021 Ported.

These are my landline test results (I've gotten the same results on Wednesday and Thursday):
TelstraClear -> Vodafone 021: 3 Seconds
TelstraClear -> 2 Degrees 022: 3 Seconds
TelstraClear -> 2 Degrees 021 Ported: 8 Seconds (5 seconds slower)

Telecom / World-Net -> Vodafone 021: 5 Seconds
Telecom / World-Net-> 2 Degrees 022: 5 Seconds
Telecom / World-Net-> 2 Degrees 021 Ported: 15 Seconds (10 seconds slower)

All calls between the mobiles were 6 or 7 seconds.

I haven't seen any other posts about this issue, so I'm hoping it can be fixed. If anyone from 2 Degrees reads this, I would welcome your input. I felt it better to post here than to try explain it to tech support over the phone.

Has anyone else experienced this with ported 021 numbers on 2 Degrees?
Is this to be expected with ported numbers, or is this a fault that can be fixed?

Thanks.

It could be a delay with the network trying to determine if your phone is on the network or not while the call is being placed.

Hi there,

Thanks for the detailed info. It's not a known issue AFAIK. So we can investigate this please can you PM the 2degrees numbers.

Many thanks
