Does anyone know when 2 Degrees will be running their own network in New Plymouth / Taranaki?

New Plymouth appears to be behind many other smaller towns who already have 2 Degrees cell sites:
Foxton, Feilding, Wanganui, Levin, Taupo, Rotorua, Cambridge, and many others (based on population).

I have seen a few Resources Consents for Two Degrees Mobile Ltd over the past few months listed on the Council website, but nothing running yet.

Anyone heard anything?

There are a few sites showing up on the RSM database. Blagdon Hill, out the back of Carrington St substation, Fitxroy, Bell Block, Inglewood and Waitara, but nothing in the CBD.

Not sure when they will go live or whether Bartender is still updating his cellsite map.

You're in luck!
According to RSM just this month 2degrees have notified they are using their spectrum in New Plymouth including the CBD.
New Plymouth was looking like it was going to be skipped even though other smaller towns had been covered (Levin, etc).

As a write this I'm putting together a Google Earth KML file with the latest info from RSM as the data others (BarTender) have online hasnt been updated for over a year now, but it's not quite ready yet.

Sorry I should have clarified, this is just the first indication that something will be happening. Based on whats happened in other citied in NZ you could expect 2deg coverage to be working maybe 6-12 months from now.
The best sign is to see towers being erected, if you had my KML file then you'd know exactly where the towers would be placed.

2D have built two cell sites in Masterton over the past month (not live) but theres been no update on RSM, just letting you guys know sometimes it can happen the other way around :)

The Masterton sites have been in RSM since 18-Sep-2012.
Do a search on RSM Licence ID 149281 & 149866

I've generated a nice KML file with all the latest sites from RSM as of Oct1. When I get my hosting sorted i'll publish the link.

Actually a guy at work tells a pretty funny story about a power company installing a cell based smart meter only to find there was no reception on their Taranaki farm. Installer wasn't too happy...

There are quite a few new towers dotted around the CBD and into the inner suburbs. The network is definitely active today as I've been "testing" for a few hours now :)
