Is it normal to have the phones go out every couple of weeks? I went on to UFB a month ago, and hooked up my three phones to the Genius. All good for a while but a couple of weeks ago the phones went dead. The Genius had a red flashing Phone LED. Re-booted and all good.

Yesterday, no one could phone in. They got a dead line but the phone rang once in a strange way here. LED was the normal steady blue. Re-booted and all good again. Till next time.

Must admit, I had some trepidation over switching from the good old tried and true copper. These outages don't help the wife acceptance factor.

Are we alone?

Could be a faulty router?

What firmware version is it running?

Nope, not normal, I get the occasional drop out (every few days) but comes back up without me touching anything. Not on UFB tho..

As xpd says its not normal. So you can reassure the wife there. I converted from the good old copper to voip nearly 6 years ago and have not regretted it. I did have some problems during that time but nowdays I am finding it very reliable. The only time my phone service drops out is if my internet connection drops or 2talks server fails for some reason which is very rare.

I'm having that same problem - only been on genius for 3 weeks.
