Try using the direct APN instead of the default Internet.

2 Degrees L2TP VPN works for me on multiple connections. Taupo/Wellington.

Has the carriers recently blocked PPTP ports?

Is it a device issue? I have issues connecting to our VPN with my Android phone(s). Same SIM in a 3G dongle or other phone works fine...

freitasm: Try using the direct APN instead of the default Internet.

the direct APN will solve this for you

PPTP uses a horrible mix of protocols so when going over a NATed connection some elements deal with the NAT and others don't. This is why L2TP and IPSec VPNs are probably working fine.

let us know if the direct APN works for you

We don't 'block' anything, but the internet APN now uses NAT which by it's nature doesn't allow incoming connections from the internet to the device.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!
