I actually removed Windows 7 Gadget platform from my laptop and desktops. It's unsecure and Microsoft has not issued an update for it.

Slightly off topic but where do u report bugs with windows 7?

I noticed a bug when moving files between 2 different remote UNC shares located on the same physical hard drive.

Go to the Microsoft forums. It might not being picked up anyone though as it's user powered. IF you have Technet or MSDN you can submit through there.

Here is the bug

Create the following folders
D:\TEST1\
D:\TEST2\

Share the folders as well as the root folder.

Move a file from \\RemotePC\D\TEST1 -> \\RemotePC\D\TEST2

It will move the file very quickly

Move a file from \\RemotePC\D\TEST1 -> \\RemotePC\TEST2\

It will move very slowly (It actually copies the file then deletes the original, despite both locations being on the same HDD)

Not sure it's a bug. It correctly identifies different paths.

Might be worth creating a new topic just for that in the Windows subforum.

I'd call it a bug, or just an incredibly inefficient method of moving a file between folders on the same HDD

You could call it a bug, or a feature; when the file moves the file quickly it's because explorer is able to identify that the source and destination are on the same drive so it just changes the reference in the MFT and no actual movement of file data bits is necessary.  When you copy it to the other share, because you're using UNC paths, explorer has no way to determine whether the source and destination are on the same drive, so it defaults to copying the entire file and then deleting the original.  Without some more depth of awareness being built into SMB there's no way around that issue.

As for your original request, it's not a widget, but TUC might do the job for you.

If you really want something on the desktop itself, you could always make your own using the data from TUC and Samurize or RainMeter.  I have personally setup Samurize to pull data from TUC so if you want any assistance with this, just let me know! :)

Ahh thanks for that, didn't know that TUCexisted. At the moment i don't use samurize or rainmeter. Thanks for the offer, if I end up trying out samurize again I will definitely hit you up for the addon :D Still would prefer something in the form of a win7 gadget/widget, but that program is good to know about.
