Two people (both on the North Shore in Auckland) have currently told me that no-one is picking up the landline at my house. But when they call (from their landline), there is a dial tone... but the phone here does not ring. (Also, they do not have VoIP or any of those fancy options..)

I am a Slingshot customer (as you can probably see the forum title). I do not have "call blocking" on, nor do I have "Reject anonymous calls" feature on. One person is on Vodafone, whereas the other person is on Telecom. They have both before been able to get through, but not anymore. Any suggestions please?

Other people are still getting through fine as of now.. I have called Slingshot Customer Care and they tried calling my landline from all the available networks in New Zealand and it works fine.. Not sure why my two people can't call through..

(P.S I have heard that some Telstra Clear customers have not been able to call some landlines successfully, but they are not Telstra Clear customers.)

First off have you tested the calling scenario to replicate it yourself? Does it happen all the time?

How long have you been a Slingshot voice customer for, and more importantly are you on a ULL or wholesale voice connection? What network are the people on that can't call you? If they're on wholesale NEAX connection are they on the same or nearby exchanges?

The most logical scenario would be that you're on Slingshot kit with a ported number and the other callers are on NEAX's where and tables haven't been correctly replicated/updated when your number was ported.

Without knowing a lot more information about your setup however it's not possible to disagnose much, and Slingshot are the only ones who are going to be able to escalate the issue.

I've been a Slingshot customer for over 6 months now. I have tried calling my landline from my cellphone and it works fine all the time.

Not that it might help, today I put music as the dial tone for the landline, then I tried calling from my cellphone, I could hear the music.. but when the one person tried calling my landline, he heard no music. Just the dial tone.

The people used to call us fine - same network etc.. but for some reason it just started happening in the last month.

How do I check if I'm on ULL or wholesale?

Thanks.

Do Slingshot let you have music instead of the usual ringback tone? If so you're definately on their gear and not a NEAX.

Because you haven't said what network the people calling you are on I'll assume it's Telecom and they're connected to a NEAX. The issue sounds like a porting routing table issue either within the NEAX or possibly within the Slingshot network. Routing table issues with ports aren't uncommon with NEAX's and I've dealt with a couple before at work. There is nothing you can do but hound Slingshot to escalate it for a fix, which is pretty straight forward for Telecom.

I've been having no luck.. It seems as though it is just coming from Vodafone numbers... they can't call me (ignore my statement about a person being on Telecom.. they aren't.. they're on Vodafone..)

Sounds like Vodafone have wrong data for your number or number block.

Slingshot need to raise it with them to fix.  Suggest you ping the guy above to get it sorted quick smart :)

Slingshot, as they're your provider.  They will in turn raise it with Vodafone.  Or get one of your mates to raise it with Vodafone ;)

Okay, I just PMed the Slingshot guy..

BTW I did call Slingshot support a couple of times but they all didn't know what the problem was after they tried calling my landline from all the other possible NZ providers out there, which all seemed to work!
