I've been using IPv6 for some time now, but I'd really like a static v6 address to go with my static v4.

Is there any news on when we'll get static IPv6 addresses? Having a dynamic /48 is a little silly, what are we going to do with 64k dynamic subnets?

Hi all,

Just had a quick chat with the network engineers and have been advised that this is actually pretty high up on the list to be implemented soon. I didn't get an exact time-frame, but keep your eyes open, we will update this page when we have more info for you all!

ooo this sounds like a good idea, didn't occur to me that my ipv6 would change since my ipv4 doesn't lol

It'd be good to see this implemented. I've been asking for this for the last 12 months. It makes it hard to setup access control lists when the ip subnet keeps on changing.

The problem I have without a static one is that everytime I disconnect and reconnect my PPP, and get a different prefix that all my windows shares etc dont work till the windows networking stuff updates with the new v6 address. Solved it by disabling v6 on all the computers but one, but its going to be a problem going foward without statics.

would be nice to see static IPv6, or even sticky considering the issues that dynamic ones can give, however with a stable enough connection, its not something that ever bothers me anymore..

once in a blue moon it will change, and i might have to worry about it!

Any update on this? It's been the best part of 2 years.

Well clearly their list is a Last In, First Out queue method, and they are reading the output of it from the bottom

Only obvious explanation for something being high up the list and not being completed yet.
