Just curious if anyone has any ideas on getting more detailed usage/download statistics for Orcon with a Genius.

Basically we shifted from Telecom ADSL to Orcon UFB.

Our speed issues have largely settled down (not overly blown away BTW) but 2.5 months in we seem to be using a lot more data than we ever used to use on Telecom.

Basically we have an iPad, a Galaxy Tab, 2 Android phones and a laptop which occasionally gets turned on to clear emails. The kids (used to) watch a fair bit of Youtube but arent on Minecraft or anything like that.

Most days we will use around 1GB but some days are around 3GB. The 3GB example was from a previous weekend when we werent even home for most of the day.

I've blocked Youtube on the Genius but we are still hitting ~1GB a day so a bit puzzled.

Anyway, not whining but after a bit of advice to find a way to get better usage details.

Thanks

Sounds like you might have a rogue app somewhere helping itself.....

Can you use just one device on a particular day ? ie: Just use the iPad tomorrow and see what data usage is like... then Saturday do the same with a different device.

If the usage stays low until a particular device is fired up, then bingo, you at least know which device to check.

Sounds like a logical plan. Thanks...

Now how to tell the wife not to use her iPad?

try it on a day that you wont be round for most of the day, block its mac address then you can "look at it when you get home"

without turning off wifi on the device or blocking it, nothings to stop an app from doing so in the background

otherwise leave the ipad till last and cross other devices off the list first?
