I am on the genius unlimited plan and am generally very happy with it.

Since yesterday all incoming phone calls go straight to the answer phone, it doesn't ring at all at home. Making out going calls works fine.
This is (I think) the third time this happened since I changed to the genius modem. The previous times it was fixed by orcon quite fast.

I logged a ticket yesterday and got reply saying that if it happened again I should restart or factory reset the modem. I was also informed that my genius is on the latest firmware and that the line is testing well.

I have restarted the modem and the problem still persists.
I saved the configuration, factory reset the modem and restored the configuration and the problem still persists.

I wrote back to orcon last night that the problem is not resolved yet but haven't heard back yet.

Is there any advice on this? Anything else I could try to get it going again.

This problem is very annoying since one can be unaware of it for quite a while.

Thanks for any help in advance.

You described my exact problem as well. When it was first installed call waiting just cut off both calls, so I has them turn off call waiting (there was no fix for the cut offs). Now incoming calls don't ring, received similar fob offs from Orcon about these issues before. Factory resets do nothing for me.

kornflake: can you log into the genius and reregister your phone number?

I can log into my genius. I am not sure I understand what you mean by reregister my phone number. Where would I do that?
On wizard page it shows my phone number under the voip service username.

Do you have a ticket logged with us for this issue?  PM me the details and I'll see if I can follow up for you.  There's a number of potential causes for CBC.

Ok, after reading kornflakes message I pressed "save settings" on the genius wizard page. That then "restarted" the genius modem (some timer bar came on to wait). After that our phone is working properly again. So now if somebody rings we get the call coming through.

So thanks a lot to kornflake.

@ubergeeknz
Yes I have a ticket logged. I will still PM you the details so I guess it can be marked as resolved. I hope that this issue doesn't come back.

Kind regard

I would tend to think that the "timers" on the unit and Orcons "switch/SBC/voip server" are out of sync maybe?
