I was checking out your international roaming options and don't see anything for Rarotonga. Would I be able to roam there using a 2degrees SIM or do you not have an agreement in place with the carrier(s) on the island?

If you have a smartphone you can checkout iPhoneTrip.com - they offer a data sim card that would work in Rarotonga, I had one of our team use it recently. May be cheaper than roaming. Not sure if they had 3G or just 2G but it did work.

Sorry 1080p and don't take offence, but I couldn't help but chuckle over your Common Misconceptions link in your message footer and think that one needed adding to say that Rarotonga is not the name of the country, only the main island of the Cook Islands group Laughing

Hehe! Thanks. Looks like a prepaid SIM from their Telecom provider will be the way to go. No data roaming is the killer :)

Did the person in your team grab one of the 'World' SIM cards? I didn't see any deals specifically for the Cook Islands.

My question is why would you want to take your phone with you on Holiday! Having said that Vodafone worked fine for me, as did 2degrees for a friend when I was there last September

Data roaming works in Raro but is very expensive and slow. You can connect to the island Wifi instead which is better value. Buy cards from local dairy/shop

I emailed to ask the question, will post if / when I get the reply.

I should probably also put a disclaimer that our company is indirectly associated with iPhoneTrip.com in that we help them with local stock and logistics.

Don't forget to turn 'Data Roaming' off before you leave NZ. Some customers have been hit with international data roaming charges when turning on their phone coming off the plane.

If you're a Pay Monthly customer we advise setting Spend Control too - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/paymonthly/paying-your-bill/spend-control

Have a good trip in the Cook Islands btw! ;)
