So I'm switching from Orcon to Snap and after signing up I can receive snap email and log in to the website within 4 hours.

So I enter the details into modem, and wow great service that logs in too.

My Data usage is still registering on Orcon and not Snap though.
I'm guessing this is because they have created my account but the line itself hasn't been transferred across yet? Just seems like odd behavior to be logged into one account and registering on another.

I tried resetting the modem but still the same.

Can someone please confirm if this is normal and if its ok to be logged into Snap and just wait?

When did Snap tell you your connection would be provisioned? Cleary your connection isn't with Snap yet and is still with Orcon.

I believe Orcon use DHCP Option82 port based authentication for all DSL now, which means the settings in your modem are irrevelant.

All I've had from Snap is the first e-mail saying welcome to snap it will take up to 10 days to get connected.

It just seemed odd that I've put the snap username and password into the modem in place of the orcon ones and it connects even though I'm clearly not moved to Snap yet.

I was presuming the modem wouldn't log in to Snap unless I was moved to it.

A number of ISP's use port based authentication these days as it avoids many of the hassles of PPP setups with usernames and passwords.

Your connection will move to Snap once the reprovisioning of the connection has been done, I would expect Snap to let you know whehn this will happen once they know from Chorus.
