Here is my data usage on Snap since I signed up you can see they weren't even counting all my data for 2 months. But then I am still not even using that much. I have the Fritz to keep track of my data each month which can't allow for uncapped or iSky but still that says 17GB and Snap says 8GB. I think Snap must be quite lenient on tracking every GB you use. Anybody else seeing similar pattern.

Are you using most of it during 1am -7am when it is unmetered?

I've found that the Fritz is quite inaccurate with data usage counting. It seems to count everything twice or something!

one of the things Snap do well is there usage data, you can tell where all your data is used. here's mine from last month

Man that is some serious internet usage. I only use about 1Gb a month on uncapped nights.

that was my Son just before he went to university, he downloaded all his games from Steam in the THQ pack he had bought and his Anime, he was doing 20 GB a night.

You download large amounts of compressed encrypted data. The Snap meter has no ways of working out the volume of data you have downloaded.

50G of downloaded compressed data = 50G of uncompressed data when counting data to the user.

These days probably 95% of data is compressed in various ways.
images are compressed
videos are compressed
webpages are compressed when sent to the user

What kind of data is NOT compressed when sent to the user?

dns requests, smtp/email, http requests.

yeh, most things are compressed already.

those three could probably do with some compression or such, dns packets are getting bigger and bigger, with some people making them big enough to need tcp rather than udp, which slows things down more than it should. smtp is still not 8 bit, and data isn't compressed, .. http header requests really could do with compression as most people have upload speeds < 1 megabit, and often there are cookies and other big data in http requests now...

but i suppose that's protocol rather than data.
