As the subject says - do you need to have data roaming turned on in order to use data when roaming on Vodafone? I'm setting phones up for my parents, who are fairly technologically illiterate. Ideally I'd like to switch it off, as if it's turned on they will forget to switch it off when they travel overseas.

I know the APN needs to be set to internet, just not sure about data roaming needing to be enabled.

Thanks
Nick

I'm sending this message from an iPad with wifi turned off, a 2degrees on-account SIM inserted, roaming on Vodafone, and roaming turned off. If you get this message you'll know that roaming doesn't need to be turned on.

Roaming needs to be turned on when on Vodafone network, as far as I know.

Apparently not, otherwise I wouldn't be able to access Geekzone. Roaming is turned off on my iPhone and iPad, and I can connect through vodafone for data. Maybe it works because I have the APN set to "internet".

You need to have APN as 'Internet' and 'Data roaming' on.

You may connect ok without these settings when you're in our canopy but it's best to set these in case you move onto our national roaming network.

Here's our iPhone setting page - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/iphone
