Is anyone else in Papatoetoe out. We are on Slingshot, but our neighbour is on Telecom. Both our phone lines are out but we can still get ADSL2+ broadband. A Chorus technician was at "The Green Box" yesterday but that is probably just coincidence as the phone didn't go down till today
Neighbour was told it's an area fault, we were told it is an isolated event and we are the only ones to have reported the fault. Due to the holiday weekend we may not see anyone till Tuesday. CSR was helpful and has set up call forwarding to our mobile with no charge to callers, so that's nice.
I thought broadband and phone line were connected, but obviously not

DSL will be coming from the cabinet and the phone from the NEAX at the exchange. Sounds like a the wrong jumper was pulled at either the exchange or cabinet.

Thanks chevrolux, maybe if I go out and pull some more "Jumpers" someone will be out before Tuesday ;-)

Yes.  Most likely a police officer.

I had no DSL and no dial-tone on Saturday and there was a technician round at my house at 7:30 the next morning.

You will probably see a tech around on Monday afternoon.

HA ha have just seen a Chorus van driving around our area, we have a few Avenues and Cul-de-sac streets, he/she seems to be lost.  I haven't seen them stop at the box two houses up from mine.  Maybe they're checking all of them. Doesn't bode well.
Still no phone, perhaps they are going back to the exchange, as that's where SAT says I'm connected to

Just went out and spoke with the technician. He had his magic wand out and was walking up and down the footpath. It appears there is a cable fault somewhere under the footpath further up the road, and it is affecting "Everybody". Possibly a two day fix if they start digging today. Hopefully they'll let CS at Slingshot know as they were unaware of the fault and thought it was my line only.
Unfortunately it is affecting our elderly neighbours St John Alarm, oh well I guess we'll just pop over every half hour or so and poke her with a stick to make sure she's still ok
Ah first world problems

My issue was an underground cable fault too. Must be the time of year for it! :)

Hello - We have had a few customers report the same fault, and one such customer pointed us here too so we can update all. We have had Chorus reported that there is a fault from 31/03 12:35 with the feeder cable between the exchange and cabinet (which is used mainly for feeding POTS) which is why your POTS service will be down, it will be affecting several customers.

The current restore time is by 7pm 02/04

Luckily some of our customers affected had Fritz Box's so a quick setup of a SIP connection got them back with dialtone:) - if you are with Slingshot they may be able to assist with an alternate voice service too.

Hi RalphFromSnap, thanks.
I have Italk so no problem for me, Just our neighbour I am concerned about. She doesn't have a mobile phone or PC. I think the speed of technology catches out the elderly in some cases. Most support these days recommend logging on to their website or email etc forgetting not everyone has the luxury of these features

It might be the time of year, but certainly can't be flooding or water in the joints, I doubt if the sprinkling of showers we've had recently will have soaked in very far yet
