I'm trying to set up shared data on 2degrees, so my home alarm shares the 750MB data included in my plan. I use no data on my main phone so it makes sense to share it.

I sent a txt to 747 from my phone with the cell number of the alarm. Nothing happened. No reply, nothing in either account online. Anyone know what's up?

I know I could call 2degrees support and they'd probably fix it, but I'm at work, so it'd have to wait until later.

Im guessing that it is on a plan and not prepaid?
And did you include the word share in your text to 747?

Ah that's the problem, I forgot to write SHARE. I'd have expected a reply saying "you did it wrong" but I got no reply.

I had a little spare time so I called 2degrees and they set it up for me in a few minutes. Sorted :)

They seem to be good at doing that.

Did you put "share" in front of the number in the text?

E

My opinions are purely my own and are not at all those of my employer 2degrees.

Yes that was it, NedKelly pointed it out earlier.

The notification txt said I need to reboot my device for it to take effect. The SIM is in a home alarm that's in a metal box in the ceiling cavity, and is battery backed up. It may reboot itself, I have no idea. Do I really need to reboot to enable data sharing? Because I really have no idea how to reboot it.

If its like a car GPS tracker, texting it the APN settings again will make it reconnect and get onto having internet instead of being blocked after topping the sim card up.
