Hello

A friend of mine was telling me an interesting issue with his wife's mobile number.

His wife originally had 027 number. This was ported to VF a few years ago and no issues there. She has since now ported her 027 from VF to 2Degrees and for the last year they have been unable to work out how she now has 2 numbers.

The issue is she can make or receive calls from her 027 2D number but she has somehow gotten another 022 number which is how she sends and receives texts.

She is using an iPhone4.

How is this possible? I can't think of anything she has done on her phone to cause this, and a visit to the store did not resolve it either. This has been like this for nearly a year now, and she has actually just accepted this anomaly but I am curious to know how this is possible?

I did ask but he was not certain. He did say when he texts her it is imessage set through her email address. I will get her to check her message settings to see what is in there.

I would be fairly certain that 2degrees will not have 2 numbers registered to their phone but they may have registered for iMessage with Apple before the port happened and so iMessage is registered with the old phone number, this doesn't really bother iMessage as it uses the apple ID anyway.

Yeah, that was going to be my suggestion too. You could prove it fairly easily by turning iMessage off on both phones and trying to send to the 022 number. It should not work with iMessage off.

Please PM me your wife's number if it's still an issue after doing the troubleshooting advised by Salty and Pwner above.

Cheers
