Hi Snap Guys,

Just a quick question regarding UFB reassignments or just an outright new/second connection on an existing fibre installed premises:

I would just like to query if the answer I have received over the phone from one of your agents is correct as I know fibre information out in the world can vary person to person at times.

I'm interested in having fibre installed in my premises by another ISP (particularly due to the lower ETF) and then switching to Snap at a later date for a couple of reasons, I was told this is possible however the full contract with ETF of the rest of the contract monthly fee would apply is this correct? And would this be the amount at the lowest possible charge/approx wholesale cost (as this is what the ETF would be dictated by from Chorus and is publicly available information) or my chosen plan?

Breaking your contract with your UFB Retail Service Provider will vary according to their terms. Two I've dealt with incl Orcon and Ubergroup. With Orcon I think the break fee is same price as paying for the connection through to end term, with Ubergroup it's 50% I think.

Note that UFB is designed to support up to 4 Retail Service Providers delivering Internet (or other services such as TV) over a single physical UFB fibre connection. However when I wanted this last it that functionality had yet to be fully tested and instead Chorus installed a secondary UFB fibre connection to the house.

Isn't this a question for the ISP that you want to sign up with and then move away from, not Snap?

Call me stupid if you want but why would you want to sign up with one ISP, move to another and pay their monthy fees while still in effect paying for the original ISP service by way an ETF?

Hi,

My question is specifically regarding the contract terms I would be required to sign to with you under these circumstances, I'm already fully aware of the other providers terms.

In this case my reasoning for doing it this way is that I'm in a rental property and unable to predict at all how long I will be here.

And a quick note, The other ISP is Telecom who I am currently interested in for a few minor reasons, One being the ETF of only $300, Second the supply of a VDSL capable modem which could benefit me should I move to a VDSL capable area instead of UFB in future, 2 the fact they are currently doing unlimited for the near future.

In effect I would like Snap's service and plans but without the sky high contract break fees often associated with a UFB install but if a reassignment of services requires that same contract the whole exercise is entirely pointless.

Both of our Fritzbox's can handle ADSl/VDSL & UFB, so thats one thing you wouldn't need to worry about if you moved to us.

So the question really is, when churning an existing UFB connection, does the contract period and early termination fee apply with Snap. It should be at least less as Snap won't have a contract with the fibre company in this instance?

PM Sent, I will note currently I'm not overly interested in a Fritz as I already have a router which should be fairly capable of working for the UFB connection and I would intend to work something out for the VOIP (Most likely a simple ATA or even just configuring the SIP account in android if possible)
