Have you checked that the antivirus is not preventing these messages from coming through?

She has the AVG antivirus, and I did disabled the "scanning" for eMail messages (it was enabled at the beginning of the process).
I tend to believe that the problem is in between the POP3 server (pop3.slingshot.co.nz) and the Email clients (in this case Thunderbird AND Outlook 2010) on her computer. Bot email clients are able to SEND messages!!! (smtp.slingshot.co.nz).

I tried also changing ports numbers (110/25 or 995/587) but to no ayail...

I lost the respect of my Granny :(
