I was helping someone (my granny!) since she "suddenly" lost the capability to RECEIVE emails in her EMAIL CLIENT Outlook 2010.

She was/is able to SEND messages from the client, but not receive.

First thing was to check Slingshot's settings for Outlook 2010 (HERE). No problems there (POP3 was pop3.slingshot.co.nz). Ports 110/25 (inc/out).

Decided to download to my poor Granny's computer Thunderbird, and set it (Thunderbird pulls automatically settings for Slingshot...). We also tried setting it manually (Thunderbird-Slingshot Settings Here). Again, strangely enough, we were able to SEND but not to RECEIVE (???).

Firewall is MS for Windows7. Was not able to see anything there concerning Outlook or Thunderbird.

ANY IDEAS. ueberGeeks??...

Have you checked that the antivirus is not preventing these messages from coming through?

She has the AVG antivirus, and I did disabled the "scanning" for eMail messages (it was enabled at the beginning of the process).
I tend to believe that the problem is in between the POP3 server (pop3.slingshot.co.nz) and the Email clients (in this case Thunderbird AND Outlook 2010) on her computer. Bot email clients are able to SEND messages!!! (smtp.slingshot.co.nz).

I tried also changing ports numbers (110/25 or 995/587) but to no ayail...

I lost the respect of my Granny :(
