Hi All

Does anyone know if the Snapper SIM will work properly in the S4?

When I asked the 2 Degrees shop in Wellington they said they weren't selling the Snapper SIM to S4 users yet.

Ideally I'd like to know if this is because they know it doesn't work or just that they haven't tested it yet.

Hopefully DSE will be delivering my S4 next week so I can try this out.

Also, is there any way to get a SIM other than from a Wellington shop?

Thanks

It doesn't work currently, but compatible SIMs will be available soon.

Thanks for that wibble.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 will be Touch2Pay with Snapper Mobile compatible soon. We are still testing the service and will announce as soon as it is ready.

Further info on touch2pay is available here, with any updates on touch2pay compatibility here.

Nine months later, still no Touch2Pay/Snapper compatibility for the S4, the Samsung Flagship.

2degrees definition of the term "soon" is highly questionable.

Did they hit a brick wall or something?  Is there a reason for such an extensive delay?

I had been told end of January was the aim for the Note 3, assume same for S4. Not long now ;-)

I have also just heard that an aussie bank has an app for S4 and Note 3 that allows you to use NFC for payments without needing a specific sim as these handsets have some sort of hardware NFC encryption/ authentication on board. I can only assume the need for new Touch2Pay sims is related.

If you don't mind me asking, when did you hear "end of Jan"?

Regardless I hope to see it very soon, even if it's not quite end of Jan.

Hi all

To support Touch2Pay and Snapper on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and later NFC handsets, we needed to develop a new SIM card with a new SIM vendor. This has taken far longer than expected but we have just given it final approval this week. So we are really hoping to have these new SIM’s into Wellington stores and the On-line Store by the end of February.

Will keep you updated once we have production and shipping confirmation.

Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Cheers

Fingers crossed the new SIM's will work with the upcoming Galaxy S5 otherwise those of us who are habitual early adopters will probably be without Touch2Pay for another year :(

This sounds brilliant. It's great to hear!
I, and I'm sure many others, are very happy to hear this.

The "end of February" is getting close, and still no sign. I will stay optimistic though.

Looking forward to this, it's getting onto a year (but feels like much longer) since I 'upgraded' from my Touch2pay-enabled S3 to the S4. It was painful discovering (OK, first world painful) I'd lost both Snapper and FM radio* by upgrading.

The post by 2DegreesCare above referring to the new sim supporting the "...S4 and later NFC handsets" is encouraging for us early adopters.

One would hope/think they would update this page (which refers to T2P for the S4 & Note 3 by end Feb) as soon as the new sims are available in store... http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/touch2pay/smartphones

*Yes, yes one can stream and I do because I have to but it takes a toll on the battery & sound quality is worse.
