Hey guys

Has anyone here managed to successfully mount the Fritz!Box 7390 NAS on Mountain Lion? I have it enabled it in the fritzbox admin, setup a user with read/write access to the NAS storage, but everytime I try to connect to it in Mountain Lion it gives me various errors.

I am going to Go --> 'Connect to Server' in Finder, entering smb://fritz-nas/ as the server name which matches what is in the fritzbox admin UI, and often it refuses to even connect, but occassionally it connects and asks me for credentials which I enter, I then see a folder called 'FRITZNAS' on the server but when I double click it I get an error saying that 'the original item cannot be found'.

Has anyone here managed to get it working on a Mac?

No-one?? Really, no Snap customers here on Geekzone with a Fritzbox and a Mac and who have tried setting up the NAS?

If I get a chance, I'll test this in the office for you mate.

Until then, have you tried using the IP address of the Fritz instead? e.g. smb://192.168.178.1

No fritzbox here, but generally speaking i have had similar difficulties with samba and 10.8 that I didn't have with previous versions. Haven't found a fix

Yes have tried that and no dice either unfortunately. :(

Thanks, would really appreciate it if you could test how it goes on your setup to see if its just me.

What if you specify the username as 'guest', with no password?

Just tried that, and that makes it worse. With that it won't even show me the share.

So at the moment it is accepting my username / password and showing me the share on the server, but when I try to double click the share to get into it I get the following message:

The operation can't be completed because the original item for "NAS" can't be found

Panic over - just fixed it myself. I had to enable logging in on the home network via the Fritzbox UI -- all working sweet now. Cheers!
