I recently moved to a new home in Hataitai, and was really sad to see my 2degrees 3G connectivity drop to almost no bars. I would think that Hatiatai is a pretty popular suburb with plenty of 2degrees customers!

Does 2Degrees have any imminent plans of improving connectivity in that area, or am I going to be forced to switch providers (desperately hope not!)?

Have you reported the issue with the exact location either via your 2degrees or the call centre?
posting on geekzone will not notify the company of a potential issue.

Where abouts in Haitaitai are you. Telecom, Vodafone and 2 degrees all have sites near where the Mt Vic tunnel comes out (at the phone exchange, the Realm and behind Parke & Clarke respectively). After a big bunfight, Vodafone also got a site up the hill about 100m west of Haitaitai School. If you are up near this area, Vodafone may be your best option.

I lived in Hataitai on Belvedere Rd and had good reception. Down around the corner of Hataitai rd and Arawa Rd (near the takeaways) I would drop bars to almost none and lose 3G coverage. So, it is spotty around there.

I just moved onto Hepara street, which is off Ariki Road before it becomes Rosneath terrace. The coverage map indicates it as an area of weaker coverage.

I haven't tried to give them a call, it's something I will probably do later today - just wanted to get a sense of what others' experiences were living there. The coverage is good near the shops, but seems to drop a lot as you go towards Rosneath. There don't seem to be any towers in that area.

Vodafone has the best coverage around there.

Unless Telecom have put up a site in the last few months their coverage is also pretty patchy around there.

definately report the issue to 2degrees, not everything requires a new tower.
let them know what the issue is, does it affect just 3G or do you loose all signal, etc.

if they don't know of the issue they can't plan to fix it.

it might not happen overnight but it will happen :)

Double check your settings making sure Data roaming is on, network search is set to Auto and on 2G and 3G (GSM & WCDMA).

If possible check if it occurs with another 3G device and let us know the exact location it's happening including Street number, Street Name. Suburb, Town/City

We need to know the above info in order for us to investigate.

Cheers

2 degrees 3G coverage is based on a high frequency 2100MHz layer. -  by the end of the year (or sooner)they will be rolling out 3G in the lower 900MHz band that should give parity with the other service providers.
