Im' surprised this hasn't been posted already, but it looks like 2degrees has a new Prepay plan

Legacy: Prepay Standard (no longer on sale from 14 May 2013, but still supported)
New: Prepay Plus (from 14 May onwards, now has carry-over minutes)

Still going over the details.

I don't understand, I thought the whole point of prepay was you buy credit and then use it until it's all gone.
Why does it need to roll over? Does it expire after a month if you don't use it like a postpay plan?

Looks like quite a nice offering. The really great thing about it is you can move back to the old plan if you want to. It is not a one way move.

The credit remains, the roll over is the minutes you have pre-purchased as part of a subscription you have bought. Essentially it is just the same as postpay except you have a $0 credit limit.

Im ignoring it... pretty much if you want to keep your carry over minutes, you have to buy a pack monthly. If I was wanting to do that, Id go on a proper account thanks.

I don't get it.

It says you can't get Prepay Standard any more but they will support it (ie. grandfathered).

Then it says you can switch to Prepay Standard if you want to.

So does Prepay Standard continue to be an option or not??

Yes. If you dig through all their terms and conditions you'll see that even new customers can choose to move to prepay standard.

The summary of the changes between the two are:
The standard Prepay rates on Prepay Plus are different to Prepay Standard. You'll still get our great 44c rate, however 'top up and get' rewards will not be available. Also there is a change to international rates.

I've noticed they have changed the Australia Data Roaming Rate to 50c/meg for everyone now

The info I posted was the copied from the message that comes up when you log in to "your 2degrees".

The other key difference is that if you use up your pack (e.g. 200 minutes) you will be charged standard rates for the rest of the month. On the "old" plan if you use up your 200 minutes (or other pack) the system will automatically buy you a new pack.

The new plan will suit some and not others. If you regularly use up your pack then you're better off with the old plan. If you regularly have minutes left over you may be better off with the new plan.

It says on their standard page:
"If you use all your minutes, texts or data before your pack runs out you will be charged our standard rates."

Also I was mistaken, 19data isn't gone, it just doesn't have a carryover version.

Only when NZ cellphone operators will allow buying everything separately and let me use packs for as long as I have my bloody 50mins/1000txt/500mb

would it be nice? $10 per pack and just use it when you need it!

Interesting. Wonder if the $19 Combo on Prepay standard will continue to be 'upsized' after the 30th June - if not then I can see a reason to switch over. Until then happy to stay.

According to their twitter, as long as you keep buying it, you'll keep getting the $19 combo plans on prepay standard.
