I am new to slingshot about 2weeks ago, and have italk and mobile services with them.

My mobile is a Sony Xperia Z, and worked fine when on the telecom network and Skinny.

However since i have ported my 0204 to slingshot, i have not been able to receive texts, which actually made it worse when an immediate family member had died and i did not know about for 48 hours as my phone was not receiving txts.

Everything else works just fine, i can send txts, make and receive calls, and even get an SMS when the sim is inserted to a new phone stating the APN settings, but thats the only SMS i can seem to get.

I have been in contact with slingshot everyday for almost a week now, with no remedies to the issue, and  all the Representatives are giving me the same generic sentence saying:
  • "Ill send an email to the wholesale team and to the mobile helpdesk and someone will then contact  you later today and if not today then it will be tomorrow morning sometime" - slingshot

They have not contacted me once throughout this last week, which is rather annoying, instead the wholesale team leaving messages with the call-centre tech support and who then pass's on the messages when i call up. (NOTICE - WHEN I CALL UP)
They have both my landlines, an email, and also both of my emails and if i wasn't so annoying and persistent and kept calling them then i wouldn't of known that the wholesale/mobile helpdesk has even done anything.

My personal opinion is that there was an issue when the porting was first done, but slingshot insists there is nothing wrong

Can you receive texts from anyone at all?

Could be a porting related issue with some carriers not updating routing correctly. Slingshot mobile is a Vodafone MVNO, yes?

Can you get texts from other Vodafone users?

Hey there,

Not sure what that would be but I can take a look into it for you, please PM me your account number.

Ajobbins - we used to use Vodafone MVNO but now we piggyback off the Telecom XT network.

Cheers,
Ben

Have you tried the SIM in another handset? Have you factory reset the phone?

A lot of these issues I experienced with other providers was fixed by the second option.

Yes i have, we have sort of identified the issues, yes ISSUES lol, its a big job by the sounds of it..... It seems for some reason my sisters phone and my mums phone sends the same message over and over and over again, infact 140 odd times, each!

The problem is they aren't sending me txts, so tonight i have asked both of them to turn there phones off, and then we will c if it still happens.

Its entirely messy but had great support this afternoon from the tech, and he was on the phone to a special telecom department that does the more difficult situations.... i will fill you guys in more as i begin to know more, had to end the call today as the telecom lady was finishing work, and i had been speaking to the orcon person for almost 2 hours :)

Good dedication to resolving this issue

So still getting no where, alot of things are not making sense.

I am still able to receive txts from this number - 7463
"Welcome to slingshot. To connect to mobile internet ensure your APN (under settings) is set to wap.slingshot.net.nz. for more info visit www.slingshot.co.nz/mobile on your PC."

this message gets sent everytime the sim is inserted into a new phone with a different IMEI number then the last. So i do receive A TXT.

Hi Kamrind,

Sorry this isn't sorted yet, I've asked the team for another update now and someone will be in touch with any progress.

Cheers ,
Ben
