Hi,

Just wondering what happened to the Huawei Ascend W1 as it does not appear to be available anymore.

Cheers

I was wondering that too. Seemed to be a big push with banners in 2 degrees stores and now they are not even on the 2 degrees site any more. There are still xboxes in 2 degrees stores though.

The W1 is now end of line and has been replaced by the Nokia Lumia 520. The free Xbox deal is still running with the Lumia.

There are still a few W1's floating around in stores if you specifically want one?

My opinions are purely my own and are not at all those of my employer 2degrees.

The W2 was leaked yesterday via @evleaks, in case you're a particular fan of Huawei.

Yeah I saw that, no word on when it is due or the price. I might get a Lumia 520 as I want a temp phone and wouldn't mind trying WP8 out

The 520 is a very slick phone for the price.

Yeah that's quite a good deal. I had a go with one in the Vodafone store and it seems to perform well. I am a little concerned about how locked down WP8 is, couldn't find a way to replace the bing search with google and you can't even change the keyboard for Swype.

WP8 is definitely not for you if you want to tweak. I'd miss that, as well as the notification area, quick settings in notification area, custom roms etc.

Its a simply and pretty polished UI, make sure it does what you're after before you buy. If it does, it'll do it well.

Hey, thought this was close enough to a relevant thread compared to starting a new one anyway

Turns out the W1 is the first WP8 device to have it's bootloader unlocked.
