My neighbour is currently with Worldnet for his ADSL and Telecom for his phoneline, however has his old Telstra phone number starting with 9xx-xxxx (in Christchurch).

He wants to move away from Worldnet to another unlimited plan, I suggested Slingshot as it seems to rate fairly well (as far as unlimited plans go).

He said he had spoken to them previously and that because he had a Telstra number, he wouldn't be able to get his ADSL with them, despite his phone line being with Telecom.

I thought this sounded odd and perhaps there was a miscommunication somewhere, can anyone confirm if this is the case at all, or if he should be able to switch his ADSL to Slingshot without issue?

Thanks

So Telecom owns the 9xx number? ie he doesn't have any service with TCL apart from his phone number originating from them.

I think your neighbour has probably given Slingshot too much information and they have got confused. He needs to just be as simple as possible.... "My ADSL is currently with Worldnet and my phone is with Telecom. Please swap all my services to Slingshot. Goodbye."

Correct, no active services with Telstra. Just kept his number when he shifted to Telecom. I'll get him to give Slingshot another call. Thanks

Hi,

Yeah I would suggest calling us, it sounds like something is missing here.

We can probably put broadband on that line.

It sounds more like we can't port that number to us because its originating from Tesltra. Although, lots of these older issues don't exist any more so we might be able to arrange something. Best to give us a call with all the info.

Cheers,
Ben

Once upon a time you could only port a number once. You could not port a ported number if I am not mistaken. I brlive this has since changed, so it won't matter anymore.

Maybe some at Slingshot are still under the impression that this is the case.
