Can one set a 2Degrees account (prepay) to call-forward?  If so, then how?

I have 2 prepay accounts with 2 degrees and cannot see any way to forward calls either from the phones, or via the web portal.  Perhaps 2D could set it up from their end if you asked them?

Thanks for the reply.  On the 2Degrees Web site I too can't find any way of setting up call forwarding.  Does anyone from 2Degrees monitor this board?

Most providers of prepaid services don't allow call forwarding. Might not work well with real time billing needed for prepaid, perhaps

SaltyNZ is a regular participant on Geekzone and he/she handles many of the questions relating to 2D ... probably not on a Sunday night though!  No doubt will be along in the morning to help.

A quick google search comes up with quite a few Android apps for call forwarding. You'll need an Android phone (and to keep it running 24/7) but that's probably the simplest way to do what you want.

I have a iphone 4S on 2 degrees prepay. Call forwarding works fine via the phone options, I use it often when travelling overseas.

Yes you can set call forwarding on 2degrees prepay, to NZ numbers only, charged at the applicable rate as if you were dialing the call directly from your phone.

On my android (SGS3 4.1.2) the call forwarding settings are NOT in the normal 'settings', you need to open the phone dialer and hit the menu to enter call settings;
phone > call settings > call forwarding > voice call

Yes, call forwarding works perfectly fine on 2degrees prepay. Just use the phone menus to set it up. There are some *xx# commands you can dial that will do it too -- the old skool GSM standard ones -- but I don't remember what they are.

Just be aware that forwarded calls are charged at the otherwise applicable rate for the call. That is, if you forward to XXX and it would normally cost you pack minutes or 44c/min, then a forwarded call to XXX also uses pack minutes or 44c/min.

Hi, yes you can set call forwarding on a Prepay account to an NZ landline or mobile, however you need to do this from the devices call settings and the calls will come off any Value pack balances and when they run out normal charges apply.

It's not possible to call forward to an overseas number. If the NZ mobile is roaming overseas that'll work fine.

Here's our Prepay Plus calling rates - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/pricing/plus

You can make sure your account is topped up by setting an Auto-Top-Up - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/topping-up/auto-top-up.  You can set it so it will top-up when you hit $2.50 or below.

To make sure you get the best value get a Chat Pack which will auto-renew on expiry - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/pricing/plus/value-packs/carryover-chat

Hope this helps.

Just to clarify - when overseas I forward my mobile calls to my skype number (an nz number) and pick up calls that way.

Aha, so they are -- thanks for the tip.

On my Windows Phone 8 device they are easily found via dialler settings; but not in normal settings where I looked last night.

Aha.  Looks as if I'm SOL.  What I was wanted to do was set up call forwarding remotely, because I'm not where the phone is, and to set it up to forward to my Aussie mobile number, because that's where I am right now.  The phone doesn't get much use, I've got a fair whack of carried-over talk minutes and now that 2Degrees are charging the same for NZ=>AU calls as for domestic calls (am I correct?) I thought I had a way of using up those minutes.

Thanks to all for your comments; I've learned some things and have got some ideas for next time.
