Is Snap going to launch in Wanganui anytime soon?  Half my relatives live there and the only residential UFB ISP available is Orcon :-(

I believe Inspire also offer residential services, you'll need to give them a call as they haven't officially launched their plans yet.

They're listed as an RSP, yes.  Their non-UFB plans don't look too exciting though :-(

@Snap, a reply to the original question would be appreciated.

I am also residing in wanganui and have waited for snap all of 2013. Very reluctant to switch to orcon.

What are the black cylinder type things up the power poles in Wanganui?
Are they some sort of UFB termination points or something?

I took a photo somewhere if the above makes absolutely no sense!

Jaxson, the black cylinder is for the overhead ufb cable when trenching is not possible.

I have noticed sometimes in wanganui that one side of the street is overhead and the other is trenched.

Hi guys

Our UFB coverage has increased significantly over the year but we know there are still a few areas, including Wanganui, that we still need to get to.

While we don't have an exact date just yet, there's every chance that we'll be there by early next year. It just a case of making sure the business case stacks up for each new UFB area, as we have to invest in new handovers and backhaul, so not quite as easy as offering DSL services!

However if we can get there earlier then we will, as we are keen to get the network build complete and then start focusing on selling ;)

Cheers
Ralph

Very disappointing acknowledgement Ralph, as snap has let me down constantly since joining earlier this year and the OP never received the courtesy of a reply some months ago.

I am well aware that many snap customers are very happy with your service overall, however, I have not been one of them for many months.

Thanks all the same for your reply.

Edit: Whatever happened to the sign over process that was underway some months prior for wanganui to be completed by Q3 this year is obviously now dead!!!! Someone is telling porkies yet again!!! Reply is not required as I have lost all trust and faith in snap and regret ever joining.

Try Inspire if you don't want to wait - their pricing is up on their website:

Thanks springheal.  I've noticed that also, so thanks for clearing that up :-)

Putting things in perspective -- the 2 largest telcos (vodafone & telecom) cannot supply you with UFB either.

But Snap could also have been more communicative as they progress.   But I imagine they are trying their best and progress was slower than they anticipated at the time.

Inspire UFB prcing is very competitive.

Latency between Inspire connections is amazing too.

Hi All,

I've flicked this thread through to our network planning team to let them know you are all very keen on UFB in Wanganui, they have let me know that there could be some scope for speeding this up and they will let me know by the end of the day, so I'll post back here as soon as I know!

Thanks,
TheRalph
