Hi Orcon,

Any comment on what looks like your local google cache having disappeared? Direct peering in AU now?

Actually, it's not related to Orcon so I think this topic should be moved. On Telecom I'm getting the same:

The ISPs have little control over what Google content is served from what locations...

That said, I haven't seen a significant change in overall traffic volumes in the last day or two so I can say that Telecom users at least can rest easy, and I strongly suspect it's the same for Orcon as well.

Cheers - N

The Orcon cache still exists :-)

Its up to google what they host on it however.

Its only recently they started hosted their website on the caches. Looks like they changed their mind.

Wonder if this is connected to my finding recently that some YT streams just stop periodically?? There is no revolving circle, it just pauses to catch up.

The other night it couldn't even cope with 480P.

(On UFB 30/10, IE10).

You forgot the smiley to indicate you know that the article is alarmist and has virtually zero relevance to NZ.

It's like 'articles' about HAARP and Chemtrails... They use a lot of words that actually, y'know, exist, and they are made up of sentences with verbs and nouns etc - but there's not a single bit of sense in them.

(Exaggerated to make a point - even if there's something to it overseas, there's nothing like that going on here - although I would fully expect people that know zero about the way CDNs etc work to maintain that clearly the ISPs are slowing down Youtube for some never adequately  explained reason)

Cheers - N
