I had UFB installed a couple of weeks ago and apart from some initial teething issues with broken fibre strand etc. it has been running awesomely well.  One weird issue though has raised its head in the last few days, which is that, although I am in Christchurch, my Speedtest.net tests suggest I'm in Dunedin and in Google when I click on "Search Tools" after doing a search it shows Dunedin and not Christchurch as my local area.

This was never the case when I had Telecom ADSL and all was fine for the first week or so after the UFB/Snap install.  Nothing on my network or local pc settings/router etc. have changed.  I have called Snap and they did some trace tests etc. but couldn't seem to find the problem.  The only change that occured during that time was my VOIP settings were changed by Snap from "no local area" to "Christchurch" so we didn't have to ring 03 in front of all local calls - Snap says this is totally unrelated and I generally understand that although it is reather coincidental.

Although the speeds I am getting are the same as before, the ping has marginally increased on Speedtest.net from 0ms to 3ms (was originally 0ms because was going from Christchurch to Christchurch and now it shows Dunedin to Christchurch).

Any help with this most appreciated and I accept that this may not be a Snap issue, however it only started since I moved to Snap and following the VOIP local calling change (again likely just coincidence).  Maybe, as an ex-Otagoite, its just a sign that I'm living in the wrong part of the country.

IP Location is not accurate, so don't rely on it. I am in Dunedin and it says that I am in Christchurch. When I was with Slingshot, it thought I was in Hamilton. It gets the right country though, unlike at my work which used to think it was in Japan and now the USA.

Thanks hoogy and I get that it can be wrong, however it never has been before and was fine to begin with with Snap and now isn't. For the record Snap have told me that after doing trace tests that i'm not making any more hops than I should be based in Christchurch so net effect on speed is irrelevant - biggest issue is not being able to use Google's local search feature.
