I'd support this for a few extra $'s a month if it was robust enough :-)

The problem with any ISP offering such a service is what to do when the service suddenly stops working.

There wouldn't be an ISP on the market who hasn't looked at the business case of doing this as their are many technical solutions, some of which are incredibly simple.

What happens however when your tricks stop working (as some are) and suddenly you've got customers making demands under the CGA that the product is no longer fit for purpose?

If you want to access geoblocked content use one of the many ways of doing this. Content providers are finding ways to block the many services starting up, so you've easily got the ability to move as these blocks start to take effect from some content providers.

They simply make it a term of an "Region Free" service that if it doesn't work it isn't their issue and you acknowledge that.

Yes, but unless this is as clearly promoted as the region free concept to begin with, customers will say that this wasn't explained clearly to them and they want the service they paid for. Even if it was explained clearly to them, they would demand blood. Customers are, for the most part, stupid.

Hi guys

Sorry but we don't currently have any plans to offer a "Global Mode" type service.

Having said that, we're starting to think about what our content proposition might look like so who knows what we might announce one day ;)

Cheers
Ralph

THIS ^^

I can imagine the calls now, Would be very similar to the calls that come in now in regards to customer getting charge casual rate when they go over their data allowance and demanding a refund because they didn't read the T's & C's

That just doesn't work though. People will still moan and moan when it doesn't work.
Steam cache's are a great example of this. People moan their tits off when they use too much data because they haven't been downloading off their ISPs cache.

I shudder at the business case of running a service like this. In one foul swoop the whole business could be down the toilet if or when the content providers prevent your service from working.

Nice to offer but a nightmare to support....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Unblock-us.com. Seriously, it's all you need.
