Hey guys,
just saw this email come through from orcon:

Unscheduled Outage:Scheduled Maintenance: Decommission of Vodafone domestic peering

SUMMARY The Vodafone/Telstra domestic peering will be decommissioned as its no longer
required.

Is that because traffic will now start going through the APE as in Telstra will become an open peerer?

I think it may be internal peering between Vodafone and Telstra, it makes no sense for Vodafone to turn Telstra into an open peer due to the fact they have so many customers (ISP's) that connect straight to them to peer to Telstra/Telecom

I might however be wrong...

Yes and no

Since Orcon no longer serves Isky from its CDN, we decided that we no longer need the paid transit link into Vodafone.

Traffic to the old Telstra network will transverse our Telecom GGI circuit.

Interesting, so you were paying for an interconnect with Vodafone so they could access content hosted by you?
