As per the subject, I'm wondering if the FitzBox adds a 802.1p tag to the voip traffic? I've had a look through the pages on the FitzBox and can't see any settings to suggest it does. I haven't looked at any config files, however, as my router for some reason came unprovisioned, and the only setup I am aware of was done through the web interface, I suspect that there's nothing in there either.

Hi Dolsen,

Yes, but a couple of caveats, the Fritz needs to have been configured by Snap as the settings are not avaliable in the GUI or via Telnet, and the QOS tags are honored through to our Snap Plus switches.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
TheRalph

Sounds good.

Couple of questions -

For people who transition through from adsl / vdsl - I assume that they will not get these tags added?

As my box came unprovisioned from snap, is there any way I could get this applied to my box? I'm happy to apply it locally through almost any method that's required - eg apply config file, or set up a tftp server, or put files on a web server and point the box at it etc...

I was in the same boat and when i switched to VDSL and Voip , so i just gave Snap remote access to the Fritzbox and they changed everything that was needed.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I gave them remote access too, however, Ralph said "the settings are not available in the GUI or via Telnet", meaning that there is no way they could have set those settings. Switching to VDSL may be different as I'm not sure if that has the 802.1p tags that are available on UFB?

I would have expected this would be done via importing a config file created for your connection?

That's my expectation too. Prob has a couple of different sections with

for voip traffic
{
vlanid = 10;
vlanprio = 4;
}

and for normal internet
{
vlanid = 10;
vlanprio = 0;
}

(along with other stuff left out).
