Reading through the now locked Genius Go Discussion thread, there was feedback back in July about issues with iOS7. Here we are nearly 4 months later, and its still unresolved.

The app is pretty much broken on iOS7. I have managed to answer two calls out of about 20 in the last few weeks. Even more annoying when it misses a call, the phone number is not in the 'recents' call list, so I cant even try to call people back via GSM.

It used to work 'alright' in iOS6, but that ship has sailed, and it is impossible to go back to iOS6, so please fix the app for iOS7.

I've had the exact same painful experience.

The worst thing about this is the complete lack of feedback given it has taken 4 months! No mention of it in any blog, status pages or FAQ - and they still happily bill away for a service I am not provided with.

Coupled with the perpetually congested support lines, I'm waiting for the next best deal from another ISP - I could really use a home line now.

Its free unless youre using it on more than two devices.....

Yes, we have 2 installs of the app.

It's not just the app but the homeline becomes unusable when the software fails. I'm paying for a broadband and homeline bundle that

Hi There,

Would it be OK if we have someone from our Tier 2 support follow up with you?  It'd be great if you could PM me with the best number to contact you on.  This doesn't seem like something that should be happening at all.  Your homeline should be working totally independent of the Genius Go apps.

Thanks and Regards

Dan

The new iOS app has been submitted to the App store and should be available in the next 4-6 days.  I'll come back and update when it's available.  I would recommend all iOS users upgrade as it improves the experience on iOS6 as well.

Wow, I should have come here sooner. Thanks for the follow up, appreciated.

I think maybe there is some confusion over my issue...

Genius Go is definitely broke - that's been acknowledged (albeit nowhere on the Orcon site).

In terms of my landline, I'm sure that still functions fine but the trouble is I can't use it as the intended use was with Genius Go. The home I just bought has a single RJ11 port for broadband - that just happens to be in my 6mo's room :/ Enabling the use of the homeline would include renting additional hardware from Orcon (the handset) or buying a cordless. My predicament is circumstantial - however I went with Orcon based on the Genius Go offering because it solved my problem.

I understand software breaks, that's no problem - but it's been four months and with the aforementioned lack of information, it's kind of frustrating.

Best outcome for me would be for Orcon to send us out the handset for the Genius and not ping me for the privilege.

Thanks for your feedback, and apologies for the poor communication.

I can tell you that the new iOS app works a lot more reliably, so there's a good chance it's going to help, although Genius Go was never intended to fully replace your home phone handset, I can see the value in using it this way.

Thanks and Regards

Dan

Great, looking forward to the update.

From the Genius Go page

"Whether you are on the couch or on the town, never miss a landline call again. "

In terms of it not being a replacement for the handset, I don't think it's fair to assume the user will make that conclusion from the marketing. Not supplying the Genius with a handset anymore is also not really suggestive of its necessity.

The newest version of the Genius Go app, which addresses a number of problems, including display glitches in iOS7 and a number of issues related to reliable answering of calls, is available in the App store as of today.

Genius Go on iTunes

If you use Genius Go on any iOS device, it's highly recommended you download this update.

Got the new app. Some problems solved but still prohibitive usability problems.

* Main (free) app, when answering a call, Genius Go continues the ring tone while the call is connected.
* Secondary (paid) app: Does not ring on incoming calls.
* Secondary (paid) app: When calling out, callers voice cannot be heard.

Both devices are iPhone 4S's running iOS7 and have reinstalled and relinked to our Orcon account with the new update.

Turn your mobile into your landline – and make and receive home line calls wherever you are

Marketing from the App Store. Again, not really consistent with "Genius Go was never intended to fully replace your home phone handset".

If someone from Orcon is listening here - can you please PM me.

Thanks

Mark
