Hi Guys,

With the understanding Snap will not provide support for any hardware other than thier supplied Fritz - I will be running pfSense with my fibre when it is up and running.

What (if any) options do I have for the phone side of things without a Fritz?

Is a "Cisco SRP527W" able to intergrated into the network for ONLY phone functionality?

Thanks to all

Just plug the snap sip settings into your client. Looking on my fritzbox the SIP settings are:
Username: Phone Number
Password: Snap Password
Registrar: connect1.plus.snap.net.nz

I haven't actually tried it and am not sure if the VLAN tagging is required for it to work - but give it a try!

The benefit of the Frtitz is that the QoS for telephony is already set up. I was resistant to using an ISP recommend router at first, but I have subsequently found that the Fritz 7340 will do nearly everything I want it to do, except run a name server.

Although dynamicDNS does work well with Fritz. Heh, can't have everything.

You should be able to use any SIP client, phone or ATA - there's a huge selection.

I have purchased a Cisco SPA112 so we will see how that goes when my Fiber goes live. Hopefully in 4 weeks time.

Will keep you guys posted how I get on.
