Hi,

In the last 24 hours I have received several emails offering me a work from home position at $100 per hour or $53,300 per year and all say to reply to an @newzealand-googleapps.com  Email address.

Obviously this is a really bad scam, so only real dumb peoples would fall for it but the question is can anything be done at an ISP level to stop these emails and other spam emails?

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

The spammers just change their tactics all the time, Best thing to do educate friends and family about these scams including SMS scams and just delete the messages

We can and do take action, our servers chew through millions of emails daily but some will always get through I am afraid.

As above, the ISP and email providers constantly monitor and block spam. Some will go through because it's quite hard to a machine to decide what's legitimate or not.

There are things being used. For example SPF and DKIM which give ISPs and email providers information about the validity of an email (but not if it's invalid).

At the simplest level having your ISP filter your email address for unwanted emails (spam or not) is not a good idea because they may catch (and not deliver) emails that are genuine.

Most email clients and many AV apps have the ability to filter incoming emails - such as routing them to a folder, adding text to the subject etc.
