We have so far had 4 calls from a number that appear to hangup on answer or Automated (or someone with it in for us)

Calls originating from what is reported as from 001002178
There has been the odd one during the day over the weekend (513pm, 647pm, 735pm friday) and then again tonight at 932pm

Anyone else seen these appear in their logs on VOIP recently?

Makes me wonder if it is one of those pesky PC help scammers which have stepped up their targeting in NZ once more.

Loads of this happens all the time. All you can do is blacklist that particular CID but it won't matter because it will have changed with in the hour probably.

They are bot diallers looking for insecure voicemails and DISA's.

I think they are often "call centre" dialers.
Sometimes you pick up the phone and there is no one there - the 'call centre' dials numbers in advance - expecting someone in that call centre will be ready for the next call - but sometimes its too quick.

The other thing the other half and I have noticed, is the dialer at the other end often seems to require some audio from your end before it shoves a person on the other end ofthe line. If you pick the phone up and say nothing - no-one comes onthe line - If you say Hello - its suddenly hooked up to someone.

In any event its phone spamming and a royal PITA.

Several other people have also mentioned this in the past.

One thing I haven't seen clarified is whether these are calls originating via the PSTN or are direct SIP calls hitting the Fritz!box.

Lots of people with Cisco/Linksys adapters who don't configure them correctly and set up port forwards for port 5060 get this all the time as bots attempt to relay calls via their device.

I've seen posts and aware of the dialers etc and how they work.

Just figured giving the example of the number presented and the fact it didn't change over the 4 attempts may have been of use for someone else to assist in diagnosing if it was infact one of these or something different. I wasn't able to track it down via the usual sites listing known resort spammers etc

It is a fritzbox, but the last lot of ghost dials I have had didn't even register in the call logs, they were always 1 ring and then stop as apposed to a constant dial awaiting pickup like these
