I just tried talking to Orcon support about the unlimited plan and the Genius modem but I didn't get very far and I don't think CS understood my question.

I am currently  with another ISP and am looking at the service offered by Orcon.

The unlimited plan comes with the Genius Router which as a VOIP line included terminated in a POTS connector on the back of the modem.

I run an asterisk PBX so currently access trunks via a SIP connection.

The question is, am I able to access the phone line included in the unlimited plan via SIP or is the service locked to the Genius router only.

If you can't access the VOIP via SIP do Orcon offer the same plan without phone line at a lower price.

Call the sales line (0800 JOIN US (0800 564 687)), they are way better placed to deal with that query than customer support.

What is supported is the VOIP is locked to the Genius device.

Thanks for confirmation it is locked.  Sales put me through to tech support...who then put me through to sales.  A bit disappointing for first contact but then my question was a bit out there I know.

You can use a different router and hook your pbx up to their SIP but it's not supported by Orcon so if it breaks you're on your own

Thanks Ragnor, thats good news.  I have no problem attempting getting SIP going by myself.
