Is there any news on when an updated CSC would be released to enable it to work on the telecom 4G network.

Up until now I would not of cared but due to Samsung Knox we can not just flash other carriers firmware without voiding the warranty.

This will probably be my last Samsung phone due to Knox putting so many restrictions on what you can do so hopefully I won't end up in this position again.

I'm in the same boat as you... waiting for new update to enable 4G.

Offtopic but, I find it so irritating that Samsung did not advise about this issue, a simple sticker on the box like "future update required to enable 4g", would have saved so many people from frustration.
AND when emailed, they couldn't resolve anything. This is my reason to not buy Samsung anymore.

So you purchase a handset from another carrier that does not provide 4G and then you get upset with Samsung cause 4G is not enabled on the handset?

Folks if you want a handset that supports the features of the network you are going to use it on purchase it from that carrier for official support

Handsets between carriers have different features enabled and not enabled, It's been like this for years

Frustration is about not being told about the restriction - rather than the restriction .

Fact 1: at time of purchase, it was not known that there was 3 different note 3. (Telecom, voda, 2 deg)

Fact 2: there was nothing indicating 2degrees on the box

Do you buy a turbo car(because it says it's a turbo car) to have the turbo disabled? Well technically the turbo is still under the hood. It just doesn't work and no body tells you at point of sale.

Got it from Pbtech.
Was told it was not parallel imported, had nz Samsung warranty.

Got it from Pbtech.

Pbtech have at times bought phones from retailers like dick smith or noel leeming during their specials and then on sell it to public. When their staff sell it they don't know if a particular handset is a telecom or a Vodafone one. On the other hand if you buy from places like noël leeming they have them clearly marked for that particular network thereby avoiding any such confusion of what is going to work or not. I have bought from noel leeming and specifically asked for the Vodafone version as I wanted to make sure 4G works as I am on Vodafone.

While I appreciate the frustration, this is no different to buying any of the whole range of 3G handsets that also don't work on Telecom (3G).

Good chance they would not of known either.
Mine was from warehouse stationary what did have a 2 degrees promotional sticker on it and they were the only ones that had them in stock at the time so going by Samsung's specs I was expecting it would work on all networks.

How hard is it to push out an update for the CSC Johnr (being from a provider you will probably be best to answer this)?

That was usually hardware not software a lot easier to avoid getting the wrong model

It would be 2Degrees that would need to approve any updates that will enable new features and Samsung Korea to push it out

To be honest, no i didn't.

It was just implied that because it was NZ new samsung, that it would work perfect in NZ.
(from your point of view, it is correct and i agree now. but thats because you have more knowledge than the average joe consumer)

To the average consumer, they think...
"2deg has no 4G... thats ok, i don't want 2deg 4G anyway"
"It says LTE on the box, which means its got the right hardware to connect to Telecom 4G"

and like others said... i don't think PBTech would have knew exactly either.
i went back to PBTech, and they "assumed" firmware issues... and wanted 2 days to try find a fix... (they said they would change the firmware/software)
finally i declined because i am guessing it would void the warranty.

but i have accepted whats happened, just have to wait for the right update (emailed Samsung NZ, and doesn't even know when this will happen.)

I'm sorry, but Muggins you for not having done your homework first.

I'm wanting to buy a Nexus5 from the US, mainly because of the ridiculously cheap price offered on Google.

Google will not sell me the NZ (international model) but as I don't have or use 4G, that is no hardship.

I read the appropriate forum on GZ and PM'd two other members who came back to me readily with the answers to my questions.
