Hi,

Is it possible on SNAP using the Fritz Fon Iphone APP or a 3rd party APP to direct landline calls to this app / iphone rather than have a physical voip phone?

If yes, can the app work on 2 phones for the same number (so either of 2 people can answer?

Cheers,
Alexis

You can but I had issues with the fritz app, wouldn't always show a notification of an incoming call

unsure if the latest version fixes this but I recommend plugging an old phone into the back of the fritz so you can at least hear it ring in case it happens

The Fritz!Fon etc. apps for iPhone and Android were problematic for me. The iPhone app would constantly get closed off by iOS due to memory constraints and then would of course fail to work. The Android app caused problems for me whenever I tried to dial a number using the phone itself, the Fritz!Fon app would often cause the default 'Phone' application to crash so I got rid of it since it caused too much hassle.

Long story short, from my experience, these apps aren't always a reliable replacement for a separate phone. You could always get a cheap cordless phone and connect it to the Fritz!Box.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Thanks. Is your "landline" number linked to the App? That's what I want to do.

I have tried the app and the inbuilt fritz voip and it was very broken audio, dect to the fritz was a lot better but still breaking up a lot. PAP2T on the lan to 2talk was good enough to use. didnt bother any furthur faultfinding and just didnt use the fritz with 2talk anymore.

Hi,

I now have the Fritzfon App installed and UFB etc works fine, as does the landline if a handset is plugged into a jack.  Is there anything I need to do to set up the app to work as the landline? I can't find anything on Snap website.

[edit]:  It seems I can receive calls, but not dial out.  Is it as simple as t he app needs the +64 prefix?

Regards,
Alexis

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Did you link the IP phone to an external number?

Under Telephony / Telephony Devices, there should be a number against that device in the Telephone Number Outgoing column. If not, you need to edit the line settings and assign one.

I use this and it works fine - although sometimes you do have to manually launch the app in order to answer a call when you hear other devices ringing.
