So these past few days my torrents have been getting worse and worse at making my fritzbox crash (as in connection disconnects and fritz restarts) and I've tried to lower the max peers and it doesn't really help with the issue I'm getting.

My question is whats a reasonable number for the peers connected but still somewhat max out my line?

I've got a fritzbox 7340 on the .22 firmware with snap vdsl.

for what very little torrenting i do from home (it all comes via FTP normally.)

100 connections the fritz handles pretty well (7390 however.)


how many connections are you pushing at it? are you possibly pushing too many half-opens or connections per second?

I've never had any issues with torrents on the 7340, also running .22. Not sure what settings I had - pretty much just what utorrent (and azureus in the past) come with I think. Never had too much issue maxing my line (also VDSL - both up and down) on reasonably active torrents.

It's not that big off the top of my head. Disable QoS if you've got it turned on too.

Else grab a Mikrotik, those things are great!

Well I'm pushing it at around 100 peers a torrent with 500 max so maybe I'm going abit overboard there.

ild probably drop it down, you really dont need to run it that hot unless your talking a rather slow public swarm.

i tune for 1/10G machines normally..

but for close on 70/10 with snaps peering, you really shouldnt need anything more than 75~125 in a public swarm.. very much client dependant and if your caring about the upload share in download.
