Hi Guys,

After a few months wait I got a txt from snap stating the provisioning team is working on a date to install UFB.

2 weeks later I get a txt to call snap regarding this.

Turns out "Another party has denied your request for service"

I thought it was up to me to get permission from all relevant parties? I am down a shared drive and I have my property owners permission but have not had a chance to get in contact with the neighbours property owner yet so I have the UFF form half filled in already.

Is there a way to find who denied the request?

Can I find out the property owners details? I dont know if I will have much luck talking to the neighbours or if they will even be willing to hand over these details.

Complain to your MP that you are paying for this network that you are not able to connect to would be my first suggestion.

Then go to the council and they can give you the property owners details with a bit of effort.

Contact them all and find out if they denied you.

If it was one of them that lives in the property then make some thinly veiled threats and comments about them being luddites.

If it is an absentee landlord then you are basically screwed unfortunatly. revisit the MP and express displeasure to them that you have paid all this tax which has been spent on a UFB network that you cannot use. Enough bother to them and something might get done about these absurd laws around consent.

IMO eventually they are going to change the rules surrounding consent to drive uptake percentages.

That'd be nice; I've seen too many consent-related posts. I'm glad that I have a freestanding house with its own driveway... now to wait until Chorus UFBs my street in October!

I may be wrong - (in which case I know I will be corrected), but I gather that Electricity and a regular phone line have some sort of 'exemption' from the resource consent process - whereas UFB has to go through the whole tedious process. Anyone can decide to be petty and deny it for no reason.

Our building at work has private fibre to various parts of it - I am trying to get UFB and the process of going through all the other tennents/landlord/owner is very slow. Chorus is managing it and I gather its sucking huge amounts of their resources.

The government is throwing lots of money at UFB and are wondering why the slow uptake - the reason is that it gets too hard!

Agree they need to change some laws around this. A change along the lines of "no permission needed to use cross lease common area land" would be a good start.


But then it would get really tricky for cases where access to a property is via a separate freehold property with easements on it allowing say just power, water, ect to cross the land.

And there is always the case of a cross lease where the services cross through an area that is exclusive use of just 1 of the occupiers.

Hi guys and RalphFromSnap,

Phoned snap last night after having my consent form completed.

They gave me the speil that the connection had been denied by the neighbour this time?

The guy I was talking to (sorry cant remember name) also said he was not sure what to do with the consent form and would phone UFF to find out, after a while on hold he comes back to me saying they are not sure either... really?

I have prevously received a call from snap advising it was a hold up on UFF end because of the consent form not being present - I was not advised to send it in at that time or sent one to fill out - I had to hunt it down on my own accord as I knew it was going to be needed.

Anyway I digress...

Ralph, I have sent this form to your support email last night with my customer number in subject line.

Are you able to check for me if its not too much trouble and make sure the gears are turning after sending the form in?

Also please advise if I need to do anything else.
