15db. no way are you getting 17a.

BMarquis:

We have a number of conditions that must be met for your line to be switched to a 17a Spectrum profile.
If your line is on the 17a spectrum profile, but the spectrum between 8Mhz and 17Mhz is not being used, I'd be looking at your CPE. it shouldn't report 17a unless the DSLAM is providing that, and we run 8b and 17a on independant profiles.

As for the question of 'what allows a line to be on 17a':
The current bandplan is 8b (goes without saying!)
The line is shorter than 350 meters, which is an electrical length in the 5530 Network Analyser of DLM is in operation on that line
A Bandplan switch hasn't occured in the last 90 days (to stop bouncing between 8b+17a, while still allowing re-evaluation as/when required)

Hopefully this helps answer some questions?

your line is however, very clean, which is great.

DLM has worked perfectly - see the delay and INP settings they are at 0 meaning your at DLM-1 congrats.

A profile change is different to DLM

DLM has worked on your line as you are on DLM-1 (the lowest latency) but due to your attenuation and probably distance you most likely wont get a 17a profile.

see the criteria that hio77 mentioned in his post as to what you need to get a 17a profile.

You have a great connection and DLM has done it's job. As pointed out your attenuation is far too high to get 17a.

What he says - I would be delighted to have your line rates :)

Looks like DLM has done its job mate.

The upstream with chorus's VDSL equipment is capped to around 10Mbit/sec so that rate is fine.

Attenuation has to be _at least_ 7db or lower to stand a chance to be upgraded from 8b to 17a.

I had 5.3db on 8b and it wasn't until last two days of the first 10 days I got promoted to 17a, attenuation went up to 6.1 afterwards too.

Thanks guys am now wiser about this than I was when the chorus guy was here he seemed to think that 17a was quite possible on my line and now I know its going as good as it will and looks good for what I'm getting I'm a happy camper

many chorus guys seem to talk out of their rearend with their vdsl knowledge, i personally have caught them out many times.

unfortunately, this tech was utterly wrong. and truely should have known <7db with his testing tool to confirm.
