Hi i have a Asus RT-n16 flashed with tomato (shibby flavour) and previously with telecom i could just plug it into the modem and it would work. since switching to slingshot and they provided us with another modem (the netcomm nb 304 nz) and plugging in the asus rt n16 wont work. I was wondering how can i make my router work with this modem ?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This one? That's a Modem/Router. If you want to use the N16 as the router you'll have to bridge the Netcomm. Either that or set the N16 into AP mode if you just want to use it to extend your current network.

No i have the nb304 which isnt wireless hence the need for my rt-n16. i currently have wireless access with a belkin router (i believe its a n150 and my brother has that set up as a access point i believe with the netcomm bn304) which works but i would like to get the features of tomato on rtn16 such as bandwidth monitoring etc
this is the netcomm nb304 i have

So i did bit of reading and saw this link about the nb304 and putting it into bridge mode.

is this the correct bridge mode since i have read about half bridge and full bridge so a little confused. Im assuming this is the right one.

So if i follow that pdf that is the correct way to get it to the correct bridge mode and bridge the nb304, what will I need to do on my rtn16 ?

Presumably you had double NAT before which is a less than ideal setup.

If you want to use your router you should be using a modem in bridge mode.

yes i did which is why this time i want to set it in bridge mode. so was wondering if this link is the correct link for my modem

and then after setting the modem to bridge mode, what settings do i need to put into my router ?

You probably had a double NAT setup with the Telecom modem.

The Asus and Netcomm are probably both set to use the same ip address range 192.168.1.x

Login to the Asus and change it to use 192.168.2.x for it's LAN and DHCP this should at least get you working with double NAT.

I don't believe that Netcomm has a half bridge mode for PPPoA, can you use PPPoE on Slingshot DSL? If so you set it to bridge mode in it's wan/internet settings and configure the Asus to use PPPoE on it's WAN.

Thanks Ragnor i have got it to work by changing the asus to 192.168.2.1 and so at least i can use the bandwidth monitoring features etc.
Over the coming weekend i will try and see if i can configure it to use PPPoE on slingshot.
