Some customers may be experiencing slow page loads and/or pages failing to load. No ETR at this time, Engineers are investigating.

This should now be resolved. Individuals who are still encountering issues should raise a case through their normal support channels :)

l43a2: ddos attack on what?

If you don't know what the DDoS attack was directed towards, was it really a DDoS attack?

Who said we didn't? Given the subject, no further clarification will be given.

Is the DDoS still ongoing?

I am seeing massive packet loss on various hops and bad lag on various online games.

I have spoken to support who after a lot of resistance finally raised a ticket for the issue.

Screenshot for packet loss goodness :)

It looks like a level 3 issue between san francisco / san jose - if you run more pings notice that ae-0-11.bar2.SanFrancisco1.Level3.net is fine in san franciscso, but the first san jose hop is bad.

increase your monitoring period to every second to see the pattern quicker.  actually it's using mpls exit path responses, and it looks like the issue is probably in new york.

that was a couple of days ago, but could be related.

No the DDOS referred to above was very short-lived.

You can ignore the "loss" on hops 2 & 3 as those devices discard snmp packets.

You are seeing packet loss then but outside our network.

you mean icmp, right.  level3 is a direct transit provider of yours, so you could log a ticket with them?  curiously another site that i can traceroute back from has no issues over level3 from london -> new york -> san jose -> san francisco.  but tracing from nz to london over level3 is showing packet loss.

so it maybe just that level3 is deprioritising icmp.  oh i spoke too soon.  it comes in bursts.

but udp is fine with no packet loss, so yeh deprioritising icmp.  although eveonline may be having their own issues.

World of tanks is lagging like mad...

What's hop 5... seems to be dropping packets as well.

Ping plot (i sec interval) to wotus1-slave-34.worldoftanks.com, one of the east coast NA servers.

alter.net is verizon

http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/208810-verizon-customers-are-you-experiencing-packetloss-issues/

i don't know why it would have changed for you from level3 to alter.net for outbound.  i doubt inbound is coming back over that, but to confirm you'd have to be able to get a traceback from the site.

if that's 1 second interval, it's not enough pings...

having min/avg/max is better than just avg/cur, but it does look indeed like there's more jitter between verizon and telia, so i imagine there's some packet loss of real traffic there.

actually looking at the graphs in your images there's some spikes visible with that.

Verizon has been outbound for world of tanks for many many months. Its offers the best latency rather than pumping it out into our US level3 transit.

it very well could when there isn't a peering issue.  although when i tested it myself, it was going via level3, and i was still thinking about that level3 thing earlier about eveonline.

in my casual search, it seems path via ntt->telia is better.
