Hi team,

Hoping someone who has experienced with similar issue can point me in the right direction.

Signed up to a new Orcon Genius ADSL plan early last week (we moved into a new house over the weekend). Modem arrived and we were told that the connection would go live on the 18th (today) after Chorus has done their part.

Received the text/email this morning that our connection was live, and connected everything as instructed this evening. However, we're not getting any internet. The router sync's fine (solid blue light on the ADSL Sync indicator) and the router is showing sync rates of '16637/945 mbps' but other than that, nothing.

Have tried factory resetting the router both from the web interface and the reset button on the router; and left it for extended periods of time (1hr +) to authenticate to no avail.

Orcon call centre tried to 'reset my connection', and then stated that Chorus has extended the date for my connection to next week.

I'm no expert but surely the work in the cabinet was completed by Chorus already which triggered the notifications, and seems odd that the router would sync to Orcon yet not authenticate if we had no connection.

Can anyone advise?

I cant answer why your ADSL connection isnt working but

Your last part of your question about why you get sync to Orcon but no connection - dsl sync is between the router and the Chorus equipment in the exch/cabinet and not on to Orcon

ppp (the world Icon on a genius router) is the connection to from the router to Orcon (then to the rest of the world)

Ah I see. Thanks for the clarification. Apparently the reason Chorus had extended the connection date until next week was because our line was unstable, but it doesn't seem that is the case (again have limited knowledge however).

There is a chance that Chorus hasn't mapped the ADSL circuit to Orcon, if the tech didnt mark the job as completed. Which explains why you have sync (you are connected to the DSL Equipment) but no ppp

PM Flamebeard with your details and he can get to the bottom of it for you.

Yep Sounddude is right I think , we will need to get the tech chased to song off, I can't talk to the Genius device to bring it up, all looks good but no tunnel to the Orcon network yet.

There is a chance it will come through overnight but I'll have it chased up first thing Wednesday - sorry about this...

You have an unusual enough name (amongst our customers), that I could find you ;-)

Thanks FireEngine, that would be awesome! No apology needed, I understand there can be delays.

All up and running now, just want to say thanks to Flame Beard for doing some investigating keeping me in the loop with why there was a delay.
