Noticed since the power went back on post storm that the VDSL is all over the place.

You tube dropping to poor quality on auto.

Pages suddenly slow loading.

Lagging and rubber banding on BF4 servers, as well as on Blizzard servers.

Not the norm, even on AUS servers, which is normally pretty good even at peak hours.

So went to Pingtest.net showed massive line jitter, F grade. Normally its B at worse.

I've never seen the line jitter test run that high.

Ran a few and there all over the place, this was 5 mins ago or so.

Straight Ethernet, Cabinet outside house.

Its possible Chorus are still restoring capacity and redundancy following the fibre cut. Its also peak to for Tasman traffic, could be a combination of the two. We haven't got any Orcon issues going on that I can see.

Good points, no doubt it might settle down over the next 24/48.

We dont have full NZ server set ups for BF4 and others games so I play and test to Aus alot and this is as bad as Ive seen it.

Wait and see I guess.

Chorus only tell us when service is restored I'm afraid, if they have follow-on work behind that (to bring back full capacity and or redundancy for example), we don't get any further info.

Tested the back up tethered 3G on Android and its at least stable, staying on this until it settles down.

Unplayable connection at the moment.

Last night was the same performance.

Post 6 - 7pm to after 9 -10pm getting really poor performance on BF4 servers.

Pingtest again showing F ratings.

Ended up using Vodafone 3G again last night, it gets a consistent 'B' rating and I can at least 'stay' connected to battlenet.

During the day and after 11pm it calms down again.

I know peak times can slow things but never like this.

Will keep an eye on this as I really need this connection to work between 6 - 10pm.

Bumping this again.

3rd or 4th evening that this Orcon connection is unusable for Blizzard/EA servers.

Something doesn't seem right there, whip out winmtr and see where things are going wrong. If you're seeing high latency between you and the first Orcon hop then it's probably related to to some physical fault being worked on, if not you should log a fault.

Pinging google.com is no good as it's internal inside the Orcon network.

Cheers for the tips gents.

This is Blizzards Australia Server for the Oceania region.

So far every evening (6 - 11pm) I get lag spikes and disconnects on both EA (BF Servers) and Blizzard.

Wasn't like this previously on ADSL. Now you can see the speed fluctuating on speedtest.net up and down like a classic sawtooth wave.

During the day and post 11pm- ish, its a steady flat solid connection at night there is a definite issue.

Earlier tonight it was showing 17% packet loss, 200+ ping, massive jitter.

For last hour it's been back to 37ms no loss full tilt D/L speed.

More mood swings than my Mrs.surprised

Anyway, looks like Orcon are trying to sort it out so thanks guys!
