We don't have the original box anymore, so is there any way we can obtain the IMEI number, so that all providers can blacklist this phone? It wasn't purchased by us, so don't have receipts etc.

Is there any network magic that identifies the IMEI number of the phone as it traverses the 2degrees network?

Phone was quickly turned off by the looks, so find-my-phone is no use. We have suspended the number, so the account can't be used, but want to kill off the hardware as well.

On a related note, we swapped this number over to a micro-SIM when moving from the old iPhone to this one. Went to SIM-swap back to the original SIM to fire the old phone back up, but I need to buy a new blank SIM to do this. Why can't we just re-use the previous SIM?

If it's on iOS7 and had find my iPhone enabled it's worthless anyway. You can't use it again with out knowing the apple id and password.

Call 2degress and ask them to block the phone. You should not need to tell them the IMEI number as they have your call history.

Yes, we *can* see the IMEI from our records, but we need *you* to provide it as an extra bit of proof that it's really you that's asking. Anyone could have your phone number. Most likely only *you* have the IMEI information.

I think 2degree asks customers to set up a 4 digit PIN so they can identify them over the phone, should this be enough??

but if you dont have that other info surely you must be able to use something else like an account number etc.

Just make sure that you erase it (or at least attempt to) via icloud.com; I believe that it'll trigger next time the phone is turned on, and it will then become unusable.

But for *me* to even get to the stage of asking for an IMEI block, the 2degrees contact center person has already satisfied them selves as to my identity, by way of the pin or the security questions. In my case, the person who stole the phone has quicker access to the IMEI number than I do!! So I don't agree that only *I* have the IMEI number. I understand the importance of verifying the identity of the caller, but this step was completed . If I had a spare 2degrees SIM, available, the number would have been swapped over to a SIM in my possession, so surely that same level of access would let me trigger an IMEI block.

Will call them tomorrow, but wouldn't imagine it being an issue now that I have IMEI

Hi guys

To check your IMEI dial *#06# and it'll appear onscreen.

We can block the phone if we have visibility that the device was used on our network recently and will notify the other networks to block it on their networks too.

Here's more info on Lost or stolen phones.

It's an idea to note your IMEI number somewhere safe, perhaps in your contacts, so you have it if you lose it or have it stolen.
