Hi guys

As some of you know Fritz crippled the NAS functionality on their routers with firmware v6.0 update a few months back. I complained to Fritz at the time and they said they were working on restoring it in a future update. This morning I received the following from them via Facebook:

Hello Steve, We tried to keep the SMB service of the FRITZ!Box 7390, but after careful consideration we decided that it was necessary to free up space for important functions like VDSL vectoring. We regret to inform you that no other solution was possible. Please accept our apologies. That means that, unfortunately, the SMB service of this model is no longer supported by FRITZ!OS 6.0 or higher.

However, we have updated a former firmware version which meets the highest security standards for users who prefer to use the SMB service. Here's a link to the firmware versions: ftp://service.avm.de/Downgrade

Haven't had a chance to install as I'm away from home at the moment, but also need to figure out what 'new' features would be missing if I chose to downgrade. Still think it was a weird decision to cripple the highly advertised NAS feature by only allowing a webview of it, but at least we have a solution here.
