Hi,

Recently I signed up for VDSL and got sent the NetComm NF4V router. We later found out that we were too far away for VDSL and have still not sent it back. I have been looking around the settings and I really like some of the features and I would like to keep it. Would I be able to do this? Also, is there a price diffrerence for using this geinus VOIP router or using POTS? One last thing, how much would the rent for this cost?

Thanks.

Assuming you're going onto ADSL I with us I wouldn't see how its going to be a problem with keeping that modem, as we're slowly grandfathering the BOB Lite (Genius Black) modem with the White Netcom.
Obviously if you're going to another ISP we want that device back, if you still insist on keeping it, there is a modem charge which will be collected.
Regarding having POTS instead of VoIP, I'm unsure about that, best wait for another Orcon rep to post as well, OR better yet call us on 0800 575 9397 they will be able to tell you what your options are a lot better than we technical folk can.

I am already on ADSL with you, won't leave unless there is some complication that doesn't enable me. Also, do you know the price of hire? I will call soon, just trying to check on some stuff.

Just another question - Will I be able to plug in the Genius White now or will I have to call Orcon to set up voip?

  1. Can you keep it - yes, let me know your account number by PM, Flamebeard or myself will make sure it happens.
  2. Is Genius cheaper than ADSL+POTS - Yes! That was the whole premise of the Genius proposition, we don't have to rent a POTS line for you so we passed on the saving.
  3. Is there a rental fee - yes I think so but I also <think> we will bundle it for free if you take a contract term - I'd need to check that.
  4. Can you plug in the Genius White now? Well that depends what plan you are on at the moment and how far through we got provisioning the VDSL and voip services on your account. Again send me your account number by PM and we can check and make it happen.
